Einen gefilzten Hut
Unfortunately the original pattern is available in the US only, therefore I had to improvise. Thank you to notmartha1 for the photos of Sunday-Best.
Main Colour/MC = Petrol/turquoise
Contrast Colour/CC = pink/orange/blue melange
N.B. CC looked stupid, changed to blue/purple melange
CO 144
5 cm stockinette in MC
decrease: k2tog stitches 11+12, k2tog = 132 st.
3 cm stockinette
decrease: k2tog every 5th+6th stitch = 110
4 rows stockinette
6 cm stockinette in CC
return to MC
start crown at 26 cm (total)
decrease: k2tog every 2nd or 3rd row
13th+14th stitch
12th+13th stitch
11th + 12th stitch
etc
break off yarn and tear it through remaining 5 stitches
darn in loose Ends
start felting
length before felting 41 cm
circumference approx 90 cm
After 45 minutes @40°C the hat came out quite nice, but is still waaay too large and you can still see the stitches. I put it back in the machine and try it again @ 60°C. => pretty perfect result
after felting
length 27 cm
circumference approc. 66 cm
lesson learnt:
Brim needs to be about 5 rows longer, hat should be a little less wide (perhaps about 5 st. less).
